Archived: No Splurges. $1 Million Richer, But Chucky's The Same Dude.

If you won yourself a million dollars in a major carnival competition, what would you do with all that cash? A new car, a house… a few trips around the world and a new closet maybe? Chucky, the reigning Calypso King of the World, did none of that. In fact, the young artiste says he’s been living pretty much the same as he did before he stole the show at the competition last year.

Chucky Gordon’s “Doh Take It On” has been enjoying tremendous airplay in T&T this season.

In a quick chat with ETCETERABUZZ this week, Roderick Gordon- a young man with a mature soul no doubt, said he chose to be wise when it came to his spending after winning the huge cash payout last year. “The spend was very simple. I invested a lot of it for the most part in savings and real estate, and into myself as well. I also assisted family members. Not much has changed in terms of living arrangements or in other aspects of my life, social or otherwise,” he admitted. Chucky admitted that trips to Barbados for recording purposes have taken a bite out of his stash but all with the view to delivering the best to audiences, musically.

Chucky’s 2015 single, “Doh Take It On”, produced by De Red Boys out of Barbados and written by Jason “Shaft” Bishop, has taken on a life of its own in recent weeks, securing him a place in the Groovy leg of the International Soca Monarch competition, carded to be held on January 25th in Port-of-Spain.

Ahead of the 2015 Dimanche Gras, Chucky says he’s done several songs- all of which will allow him to make a selection that would prove different to other competitors on show night. He also revealed that he’s got a track in the bag, should he need it, along with a few surprises.
